چکیده

Accidental hypothermia was considered to be a rare condition in adults (Rees, 1958). Within the past few years evidence has accumulated which shows that far from being a rare event, accidental hypothermia is a common condition in this country, especially during the winter months (EmslieSmith, 1958; Duguid, Simpson, and Stowers, 1961; Prescott, Peard, and Wallace, 1962; and Brit. med. J., 1963). A patient with accidental hypothermia is reported below, and is of particular interest as serial electrocardiographic tracings were recorded at different body temperatures.

Although common in the cold countries, hypothermia has never been reported in South India which has a tropical climate. The J loop of the spatial vectorcardiogram in accidental hypothermia in man.

TheJ' loop of the spatial vectorcardiogram has been studied, using the Frank system of lead placement, in 25 patients with accidental hypothermia. There was a highly significant correlation (P<0o0025) between the duration of the loop (range 40-i60 msec) and the severity of the hypothermia, but its rate of inscription may (a) be uniform throughout, (b) slow progressively throughout, or (c) slow ...

Electrocardiographic Manifestations in three Psychiatric patients with Hypothermia - Case Report.

Hypothermia occurs when the core body temperature falls below 35°C, which, in severe cases, can lead to electrocardiographic changes. Several conditions that occur in the psychiatric population increase the risk of hypothermia. This risk can be further increased by the use of several classes of medications such as antipsychotics, beta-adrenergic antagonists and benzodiazepines. We report on thr...
